Renewable Energy

Spring-applied fail-safe brakes hold solar tracker panel arrays with zero battery drain during static periods, and electromagnetic clutches disconnect small wind and micro-hydro generators on overspeed or fault — Indian-made for India's renewable energy build-out.

Applications We Service

Two Renewable Energy Applications

Aligned with India's Atmanirbhar Bharat domestic content requirements for solar installations. Application engineering consultation recommended before specifying — shaft speed, torque, and duty cycle must be confirmed for your specific system.

RE-01 · Solar Tracker

Indian-Made Holding Brake for Solar Tracker Drive Motors

A solar tracker must hold its panel array at the correct position during long pauses in tracking — at night, during cloud cover, or wind-protection stow events. Continuous motor energisation to hold drains the battery and shortens motor life; a de-energised motor can't resist wind load.

Spring holds the tracker drive motor shaft by default, zero power and zero battery drain. 24V DC releases the spring for tracking movement; on completion, the spring re-engages instantly, holding the panel at its new position.

RE-02 · Small Wind & Micro-Hydro

Generator Disconnect Clutch for Small Wind and Micro-Hydro Systems

A small wind turbine or micro-hydro generator needs to disconnect from the rotor or water wheel during fault conditions, overspeed events, or maintenance. Without a disconnect, an unarrested grid fault or overspeed can damage the generator. Scoped to systems under 5kW — not applicable to utility-scale wind.

Normal operation: coil energised, armature locked, torque transmitted. On overspeed or fault, the controller de-energises the coil and the spring releases the armature — generator disconnected, zero drag on the rotor. Re-engages when the fault clears and speeds normalise.

Why PV Industries

The Right Partner for Renewable Energy

What sets PV Industries apart for renewable energy customers specifically.

01

Zero Battery Drain — Make in India

The spring-applied safety brake holds the solar tracker without consuming a single watt — directly extending system energy autonomy and battery life. Indian-made, INR-priced, aligned with Atmanirbhar Bharat domestic content requirements for Indian solar projects.

02

62 Years of Failsafe Brake Heritage

PV Industries' spring-applied safety brakes are proven in India's most demanding safety-critical applications — crane hoists, CNC machine tool axes, and AGV drive motors. The same fail-to-safe principle — spring engagement on power loss — is directly applicable to solar tracker and renewable energy systems.

03

Application Engineering Before Specification

Small wind and micro-hydro applications vary significantly in shaft speed, torque, and duty cycle. PV Industries recommends an engineering consultation before specifying — we confirm suitability for your specific system. No guesswork, no field failures from wrong specification.
