Safety brakes, clutches, and clutch-brake combinations for hoists, cranes, conveyor systems, winches, sortation lines, and palletisers. Proven in India's most demanding safety-critical holding applications for over 45 years.
Safety-critical holding applications use spring-applied safety brakes — fail-to-safe architecture. PV Industries safety brakes are proven in hoist, winch, and material handling duty across India.
A hoist suspending a loaded hook must hold that load the moment the drive motor stops — whether due to a planned stop, power failure, or emergency trip. A de-energised motor cannot resist load-induced back-driving. Power loss must be the safest condition, not the most dangerous.
Spring-applied safety brake — default state is engaged by spring force, zero power to hold. Apply 24V DC: spring releases, drum rotates. Remove power: spring re-engages instantaneously. Direct motor shaft NDE mount, no separate housing.
Safety BrakeAn accumulation conveyor must allow products to stop in one zone while adjacent zones continue running — without stopping the entire drive motor. Traditional line shaft conveyors have no zone independence without individual motors or VFDs.
Per-zone electromagnetic clutch. PLC energises coil — armature locks, zone drives. PLC de-energises — spring releases armature cleanly, zero drag. Sub-30ms engagement, smooth jerk-free product start. One motor drives the entire line.
Single Disc ClutchA packaging machine at high cycle rates requires precise timing between drive engagement and brake hold. On a VFFS machine, sealing jaws must close at exactly the right point — a late or early stop causes misaligned seals or unsealed packets.
Clutch-brake drives and stops in a single unit on the same 24V DC signal — no timing gap. Zero backlash in both directions ensures consistent mechanical stop position from cycle 1 to cycle 1,000,000.
Clutch-Brake CombinationAn industrial winch must hold the drum stationary against full load without creep — and pay out at a controlled rate on demand. A brake that relies on electrical engagement to hold fails in the most critical scenario: power loss.
Spring clamps drum shaft by default — no power to hold. Apply 24V DC: spring releases for controlled payout. Remove power or E-stop: spring re-engages instantly. Any power fault results in an engaged brake, not a free-spooling drum.
Safety BrakeA sortation line divert gate must actuate within 30ms of the PLC sort signal and stop precisely at the divert position. At 50–150 diverts/min, response time and stopping precision must be consistent across millions of sort events.
Clutch engages in under 30ms — catches the sort window. Brake simultaneously arrests the gate at the divert position — zero backlash, same position every cycle. PLC-compatible 24V DC direct interface.
Clutch-Brake CombinationA conventional palletiser layer head must drive to pick position, hold while gripping, drive to place position, and hold while releasing. Insufficient holding force causes the arm to drift under product load, misaligning the layer.
Clutch drives traverse with zero backlash. Brake arrests simultaneously at pick/place positions — holding arm rigidly against product load. 24V DC, no pneumatic supply, IEC mounting, separate coil inputs for tuning.

What sets PV Industries apart for material handling customers specifically.
PV Industries' spring-applied safety brakes have been used in India's most demanding safety-critical holding applications — overhead crane hoists, winch drum control — for over 45 years. The fail-to-safe architecture is proven where a brake failure has immediate safety consequences.
PV Industries safety brakes are used in industrial material handling and hydraulic equipment applications across India — validating the product's performance in winch and hoist duty.
Material handling applications vary enormously in load, cycle rate, and safety classification. PV Industries' application engineering team sizes the correct product — torque, spring force, mounting — for your specific hoist, conveyor, winch, or palletiser before you specify.
Our application engineering team will confirm the right product, torque range, and mounting configuration for your specific requirement.
