Zero-backlash spindle drive clutches, spring-applied vertical-axis safety brakes, rotary indexing clutch-brakes, multi-speed headstock gear selection, and overload-protection slip clutches — supplied to HMT Machine Tools since 1981 and dimensionally compatible with Kendrion and Miki Pulley.
From CNC spindle drives to overload protection — specific applications where PV Industries components are specified by machine tool OEMs and plant maintenance teams across India.
A CNC spindle engages and disengages hundreds of times per shift. Mechanical clutches create engagement shock that degrades bearing life and positional accuracy; hydraulic solutions add contamination risk.
Electromagnetic single disc clutch connects spindle to drive motor on a 24V DC signal, with smooth armature attraction and no torque spike. Stationary field design needs no slip rings; mounts directly to IEC-standard motor flanges.
Single Disc ClutchAny CNC vertical axis carries a load that falls under gravity when the servo loses power. Safety standards require a dedicated, independent brake that engages automatically on power loss — a de-energised servo alone can't guarantee holding torque.
Spring-applied, electrically-released single disc fail-safe brake. Default state engaged by spring force, zero power; 24V DC releases for axis movement; power removed for any reason and the spring re-engages instantly.
Safety BrakeA rotary indexing table must rotate to the next position quickly, then lock rigidly under machining forces. Separate drive and hold mechanisms add cost and pneumatic dependency; insufficient holding torque shows up as dimensional error in the part.
Clutch engages for the index rotation with zero backlash; at target position it disengages as the brake engages, clamping the table shaft rigidly — no pneumatic circuit, no separate clamp mechanism.
Clutch-Brake CombinationA multi-speed CNC headstock must shift ratios for low-speed roughing and high-speed finishing. Mechanical selection needs operator intervention or complex pneumatic actuators.
Each gear ratio gets its own electromagnetic clutch in PV's modular compact range. The CNC controller selects the ratio by energising the coil — zero backlash, no pneumatic supply, IEC standard mounting.
Single Disc ClutchA tool collision generates an instantaneous torque spike faster than any CNC control loop can react. Design engineers need mechanical overload protection that slips at a set threshold and re-engages automatically — for infrequent overload events, not continuous torque limiting.
Electromagnetic single disc clutch operated in slip mode at calibrated coil current. When torque exceeds the threshold, the armature slips and absorbs the overload; it re-engages automatically once torque normalises.

Coming SoonAll three electromagnetic product types are relevant to machine tool applications. Each is stocked in Bengaluru for same-week dispatch.
Three reasons machine tool OEMs and plant maintenance teams across India specify PV Industries.
PV Industries has supplied electromagnetic clutches and safety brakes to HMT Machine Tools across six manufacturing facilities — serving defence, aerospace, railways, and automotive sectors. Multi-speed gear selection using PV clutches is a foundational application in our 45-year history, developed in partnership with HMT for their turning and milling machines.
Plant maintenance replacing an imported clutch or safety brake faces 8–14 week lead times from European suppliers. PV Industries' dimensions are compatible with Kendrion and Miki Pulley equivalents — no redesign required, same-week dispatch from Bengaluru stock, INR pricing with local warranty support.
We confirm the correct torque range, mounting configuration, and duty cycle for your specific machine before you place an order. For overload protection applications, we set the correct slip threshold at commissioning — no guesswork, no field failures from wrong specification.
Our application engineering team will confirm the right product, torque range, and mounting configuration for your CNC machine or machine tool OEM requirement.
