2-Speed Automatic Transmission for Electric 2W & 3W

Designing a multi-speed automatic transmission for electric 2W/3W requires a fast-acting, low-power clutch that engages and disengages on a 24–48V signal — no oil pump, no actuator, zero drag losses when disengaged to preserve range.

Zero-backlash engagement, sub-30ms response, low coil wattage. Disengaged: zero friction, zero drag, zero power draw. Modular compact range mounts directly to IEC motor flanges without custom adapters.

Precision Torque Control for EV Assembly Line Tooling

On an EV assembly line, every fastener torque value is safety-critical — particularly on battery pack modules where undertorquing risks thermal events and overtorquing creates scrap. Mechanical clutch tools drift as friction surfaces wear.

Electronically controlled, repeatable torque — set by coil current, not spring preload. Repeatability governed by electronics, not friction wear. Consistent from cycle 1 to 100,000 with no recalibration across shift changes.

Failsafe Parking Brake & Hill Hold for Electric 2W & 3W

Every electric two-wheeler and three-wheeler needs a parking brake that holds on a gradient when the battery is at rest. Any solution that draws continuously from the battery to maintain engagement is unacceptable — it shortens range and fails on battery fault.

Spring-applied safety brake holds by spring force with zero power. 24V DC releases for riding. On key-off or power loss, spring re-engages instantly, preventing rollback without any driver action. Compact single disc design minimises weight penalty.

EV-04 · eAxle
On-Demand eAxle Disconnect for Electric 2W & 3W

Decoupling a motor from the drivetrain at cruise eliminates drag losses and extends range. The clutch must consume negligible power when disengaged, respond in under 30ms for a transparent rider experience, and fit within the tight 2W/3W powertrain envelope.

Disengaged: zero friction, zero drag, zero power draw. Engaged: coil fires in under 30ms and torque transmission begins. IEC compact mounting fits within existing 2W/3W powertrain housings without custom redesign.

Why PV Industries

The Right Partner for Automotive & EV

What sets PV Industries apart for automotive & ev customers specifically.

01
MTA EMTC — Live EV Drivetrain Reference

MTA EMTC is manufacturing India's first 2-speed automatic EV powertrain for electric 2W and 3W using PV Industries' electromagnetic clutch as the core actuation component — selected for its low power draw, zero-backlash engagement, and 48V EV architecture compatibility. Proven in production, not aspirational.

02
Bosch & MICO — Tier-1 Automotive Validated

PV Industries supplies clutch-brake combinations to Bosch Limited and MICO — two of India's most demanding automotive component manufacturers with high-cycle assembly lines where torque consistency is non-negotiable. Tier-1 validation for automotive assembly applications.

03
Indian-Made — No Import Risk for Fast-Moving EV Programmes

European and Japanese clutch suppliers create 8–14 week import lead times that slow EV prototype cycles. PV Industries is Indian-made, INR-priced, locally stocked — no forex risk, no supply chain dependency, with local application engineering support.
